The Circle of Death, Drugs and Diabetes

Author's Perspective:
Remember the "Circle of Life" from the movie, "The Lion King"?  Unfortunately, most of us are living the "Circle of Death".

In the "Circle of Life", we celebrate life and live life to the fullest, and we recognize Death as a part of Life.

But, in the "Circle of Death", we suffer throughout our lives, not being able to live our lives to the fullest -- because we become slaves to the drugs, doctors, and disease -- and, we fail to live our lives to the fullest. We never get to celebrate Life; and, we suffer unnecessarily through drugs, surgeries, hospitals, blindness, kidney dialysis, leg amputations, heart attacks, and strokes, leading to a horrible death.

Here's the typical scenario for a Type 2 diabetic or anyone suffering with a lifestyle-driven and nutrient-lacking disease.
Based on working with thousands of diabetics, we hear the same story over and over. It goes something like this:
Once you're diagnosed with diabetes, your doctor may suggest that you try diet and exercise,  and refer you to a local diabetes educator, dietitian or nutritionist -- knowing full well that you're going to fail.
You try to eat better and exercise, but life is just too busy to make a lot of changes -- especially when we love certain foods that we've been eating for the past 20-30 years.
Your doctor will slyly give you the impression that you have no other choice but to take the drug. Your doctor makes it seem that it was your choice all along so that you "buy" into the choice. Or, your doctor pressures you  into believing that you have no choice and you feel backed into a corner. Plus, you don't want to piss off your doctor. So, you start taking the drug because you sincerely believe that your doctor is trying to save your life.
Eventually, your doctor tells you that you have to go on a diabetic drug like metformin (Glucophage), which is the most common drug (in pill form) for Type 2 diabetics.
Note; This is the most common method for treating diabetics initially, but it should be  the least common method and should be used as a last resort!
Unfortunately, many of us choose drugs as our first option because drugs are convenient, and we mistakenly believe that the drugs give us a free pass such that we can continue to stuff our mouths with the junk food that's killing us.
So, you start out taking one diabetic drug, usually metformin (Glucophage) -- usually 500mg  or 1000mg twice a day.
We believe the drugs are really working because our blood sugar level comes down once we start taking the drug. And, we relax, thinking everything is okay.
Eventually, over a period of years, your diabetes gets worse so your doctor gives youanother pill. In addition, your doctor  puts you on a high blood pressure drug (i.e. ACE inhibitor such as Lisinopril, a water pill such as hydrochlorothiazide, HCTZ) and a high cholesterol drug (i.e. a statin drug such as Lipitor).
In the meantime, your diabetes gets worse because the drugs aren't really doing anything to fight the diabetes -- but, you're now taking 4 or 5 or 6 different drugs! (Some people take as many as 16 different drugs!)
And, all the while, you never question that maybe the doctor doesn't know what he or she is doing. For various reasons (primarily ignorance, blind trust, denial and financial), you blindly take the drugs and thank the doctor.
Then, it's just a matter of time before you begin experiencing one or more of thecomplications of diabetes. Usually, it starts out  with more weight gain (or unexplained weight loss) followed by general fatigue issues -- being tired all the time. Then, you start to have problems with the kidneys (protein leaking in the urine) or the eyes (blurry vision), sores or ulcers on the legs or feet, or you begin feeling pain or tingling in yourfeet.
You may also begin feeling really  tired all the time, you're gaining more weight, you notice sores and cuts are not healing as fast, and you lose interest in sex -- not because you don't want to, but because you can't! Men especially suffer with erectile dysfunction -- but, they just take another pill!
These complications lead to more drugs, and eventually kidney dialysissurgery on the eyes , surgery on the lower limbs or feet (amputation), and more visits to the hospital, followed up by hospice or home care.
Unfortunately, during this time, the diabetic pills stop working, so your doctor eventually puts you on insulin. You're surprised and shocked that you have to go on insulin, but eventually you give in because your blood sugar is coming down.
Once you start taking insulin, you begin to gain even more weight! Why? Because insulin is a fat-storage hormone that makes us fat! And, as we get fatter, we require even more insulin! This is known as the "insulin addiction trap", which is not explained in any diabetes books or medical books, except for "Death to Diabetes".
And, all the while, you are (or seem to be) oblivious to the fact that your doctor is  receiving kickbacks from the pharmaceutical companies for the drugs you're taking!
So, does any of this sound familiar?
The sad thing about all of this is that it was all preventable! And, you can still stop it today! It's not too late! However, you must want to stop it -- you're the only one who can ...
Author's Note: I know this is hard to believe, but, think about it: Have you ever heard of anyone getting better once they started taking the diabetic pills?

Wake Up People! Connect the Dots!

The "Circle of Death"
We start out eating processed foods, fast foods (good ol' McDonald's, KFC, Taco Bell, Burger King, etc.) maybe once a week. But, the food takes so good, it's cheap and convenient, so then we're going twice a week. then,  it's 3, 4, 5 times a week, sometimes twice a day!

Eventually this leads to discomfort, such as an upset stomach,  headache, constipation or diarrhea -- but we don't see the connection back to the fast food. So, we go to the local drugstore for some Peopto Bismol, Alka Seltzer,  aspirin, or some other over-the-counter (OTC) drug.

Then, one day during a regular physical your doctor notices that your blood sugar is a little high. So, he  orders some additional tests, and you find out that you're pre-diabetic. Your doctor warns you that you may become diabetic unless you make some lifestyle changes.

But, you ignore your doctor's warning, and 3-4 years later, your doctor tells you that you have full-blown diabetes, and that you need to go on medication to lower your blood sugar. You're shocked and disappointed to find out that you're diabetic. Even though you probably had family members who also had  diabetes -- but, you didn't expect it to happen to you.

You follow your doctor's instructions, and take your pill(s) every day. Initially, your blood sugar comes down, so you think everything is okay and that the drugs are working.

If you experience some side effects such as stomach discomfort with the drug, your doctor just gives you a different drug. We don't give it a second thought that maybe there's something wrong the drug!

The reason why we don't give it a second thought is because subconsciously we look up to our doctors as gods. That's right. Think about it -- why else would we blindly put a toxic chemical in our mouths?

Over a period of years, we increase the number of drugs we're taking, as our health gets worse.

Then, one day (if we live long enough), we're put on insulin because the pills aren't working anymore.

Then, we start to have problems with our eyes, or our kidneys, or our feet. This eventually leads to partial blindness, or kidney dialysis, or amputation of our toes, foot, or leg.

Your doctor encourages you to accept that you have "no choice" but to go for some surgery on your toes. Then, it's more surgeries on your foot, then, your leg. But, you find that you're not feeling any better. You start feeling more depressed about your life and the choices you made that you got you to this point.

And, finally Death stops by -- about 15-20 years sooner than you expected ...

Now, I know that we all have to die of something, but, it's not necessary to suffer and die 15 years ahead of your time! There's just got to be a better way to live than this!  Right? [Click the picture and find a better way]

Do Doctors Have a Conflict of Interest?

Visit any doctor's office and you'll see drug reps giving doctors samples to promote their products. Drug companies are known to lobby doctors and health care providers but until now there was no way to find out how much money doctors were being paid by pharmaceutical companies.

Diabetes treatment costs more than any other disease (over $132 billion annually), but diabetes treatment also generates the most revenue for the healthcare industry (over$210 billion annually!).

Is this a conflict of interest for an industry that is more focused on a “sick” care strategy that creates drug- dependent patients – instead of a “health” care strategy that cures the actual ailment or disease?

Your doctor makes money when you pay for the appointment. Your doctor makes more money when the drug company pays him to "push" their drugs.  And, you pay for the drugs and the doctor appointment. So ... how's that workin' for ya?

Are you getting better? Do you find yourself spending more money for the drugs? Have you discovered that you're taking more drugs today than you were taking just 3-5 years ago? And, you're spending more money for the drugs, the doctors, the hospitals, the health insurance. But, in the meantime, your health continues to go downhill!

Stop the insanity and get educated about diabetes, drugs, doctors, and nutrition! And, take action and get control over your Life before Death takes it from you!
